He is now a creative director at Ethiopian Airlines and what he really loves about his job is his responsibility for all Ethiopian creative advertising art works for various occasions that include opening of new destinations among others. Due to such exposure, his job
most of the time enables him to experience new ideas, creative thinking and trans-disciplinary research.
Yonas quotes an old saying which goes “If you want to kill a lion make a friend!” Yonas believes human beings keep on breathing all these years not because they are tougher, stronger or bigger, it is because they can imagine, align their vision and implement it to reality working as a team. They share values to define their common identity and experience. Yonas is very passionate about the power of education and art, and that is why he offers free art class in his community.
He said, “I teach them on how to think as a team so that they learn to articulate their ideas and bring change in their society.” Over the course of ten years, Yonas will find himself establishing a strong cultural centre for his community so as to bring about a bigger and tangible impact. Accordingly, the community can study, preserve, analyse and transform visual art/ culture of Ethiopia based on critical observation and research. In order to achieve his passionate dream, Yonas is now actively participating in Creative Future- a two years initiative program supported by European Union and British Council. The initiative aims to empower the creative community to speak to one collective and powerful voice advancing positive dynamic vision of art in the future.
